Since my father has taken up the cause and purchased a 1974 ;) mini of his own, I thought it prudent to let Him post to this blog. He’ll be able to give the perspective from the east side of the state.
I’ve been thinking about this for awhile. I’ve owned a 1974 Mazda Rx3, my dad had a 1974 TR6, my folks had a 1974 Pinto, and it was the year of the Gremlin vs Pacer, Vega VS Pinto. I think they were really all crap. I was living in Detroit in 1974, thinking the year was cursed for cars even then, I’ve never liked the 70’s Camaro’s or Firebirds. Dodge seems to have the most timeless autos from that era, as far as Ford is concerned, that’s the year we got the Mustang II, pretty much a model every Mustang owner wished never existed.
Anyone have a Mini from the 70’s? I’m guessing mid 70’s Mini’s were fine (some evidence to support my theory). The Mini my father just brought down from Canada.
Other than that if you see 1974 near any car listing on Craigs list, just keep going.
